Our Basic Field Grants provide funding to support delivery of high-quality civil legal services and access to justice to low-income people throughout the U.S. and U.S. territories through full-service grants for all eligible people in a service area and through specialized subpopulation grants to provide services for agricultural workers and their dependents or for people in Native American communities.

°µÍø51's Technology Initiative Grant (TIG) program awards special funding to existing °µÍø51 grantees to support creative and innovative uses of technology and enhance their technical capacity. TIG funding improves legal services delivery to the low-income population and increases access to high-quality legal services, the judicial system, and legal information.

The Pro Bono Innovation Fund is designed to support °µÍø51 grantees with developing new and robust pro bono efforts and partnerships that will effectively serve more low-income people. The Pro Bono Fund encourages collaboration, innovation, and replicability to leverage impact.

We make a limited number of forgivable loans to attorneys employed by our grantees. Not only does this help attorneys repay law school debt, but it also helps our grantees recruit and retain highly qualified attorneys. Additionally, the Herbert S. Garten Loan Repayment Assistance Program helps promote the development of initiatives that make public interest law a viable career path for law school graduates.

°µÍø51's Emergency Relief Grants provide funds as needed to °µÍø51 grantees in areas with government-declared emergencies. Those funds are for responses to damage sustained or a surge in demand for legal aid as a result of the emergency.

The Veterans Appeals Pro Bono Grant facilitates current °µÍø51 grantees' provision of high-quality legal and other assistance, without charge, to veterans and other individuals who are unable to afford the cost of legal representation in connection with decisions of, or other proceedings in, the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.
